NORTHWEST LAS VEGAS. Amid the modern amenities of the Strip, it's easy to lose sight of the Western town that Vegas once was. On 115-acre Bonnie Springs Ranch, though, the Old West is still alive and kicking. Old Nevada is a replica of an 1880s mining town, complete with a saloon, simulated gunfights, a public hanging, and a hands-on petting zoo. The entry fee includes a $10 restaurant coupon.

THE STRIP. The name says it all! You don't need a plane to skydive any more; just head over to Flyaway Indoor Skydiving, where you'll experience the same adrenaline rush without having to worry about the weather, a parachute, or crashing into a cow. An indoor wind tunnel provides the momentum, and for three minutes you're blissfully, totally airborne! A terrific way to experience the thrill without the anxiety or potential danger.

THE STRIP. Experience every gaming scenario imaginable at GameWorks, a collaboration of Universal Studios and Sega Enterprises. If you're into high-tech virtual reality, you can digitally compete in racing, skiing, and skateboarding, and engage in battle with computerized adversaries. Or for an old-school experience, play classic arcade games like Ms. Pac Man, Centipede, and Missile Command. There's air hockey, pinball, and mechanical bull riding, too!

LAS VEGAS. The Hoover Dam, which harnesses the Colorado River in the Black Canyon, opened in 1936 and is a national historic landmark. Named after President Herbert Hoover, who played a large part in its creation, the dam is Nevada's largest and draws a million visitors each year. Located about thirty miles southeast of Las Vegas, it's one of the most amazing manmade structures in the country. Lake Mead, the reservoir created by the dam, ranks as one of the country's busiest national parks and is a great destination for aquatic recreation.
